by Tem Balanco

As a person who has worked on web design and web coding for eight consecutive years for numerous different clients, I have met many customers who think that in order to create a website, one has to have a college degree in design or programming and have extensive experience than they have or hope to obtain. Contrarily, creating a website can be a lot of fun, and easier than you anticipate it to be.

When you create a website, the best way to begin is by having your design concept in mind. In the past, many people have found graphic software to be useful, but today we are seeing that the software is not necessary to design a basic site on your own. Currently, there are numerous image sites available on the web that will resize your images, add fun and interesting graphic effects and help you change your photos from color to black and white free of charge.

There are various services offered in the Internet for hosting a web both for free of charge and for fees when you create a website. If you are creating a website for the first time, it may be more valuable for you to use a free hosting at the beginning as you become skilled at producing improved sites. The advantage in using free hosting services is that a lot of of them also present free HTML editors.

"What You See Is What You Get" or WYSISYG HTML editors are the most practical and effective programs for newcomers to website design. This approach allows you to display all aspects of your page on the screen and preview how it will look after it is published. For those just starting out who are not yet well versed in the terminology, this is much easier that completely coding a website by hand in a .txt file.

As your skill with both coding and website design increase, you may think about changing to software other than the free WYSIWYG editor to build your sites. There are some editors available that combine WYSIWYG with viewing of the code that you use to create your website. As you gain competence in more complex levels of coding, these types can be more efficient than your standard WYSIWYG editor.

In any case, learning to create a website can be a fun and challenging pasttime. As you grow more skilled in creating for the web, you can even grow to offer your design skills for sale in helping others create sites. This is how I started with web design back in high school, and today I do this for a living. While it takes patience and experimentation, in time, it is a fun skill that anybody can learn to do.

As someone who has done web design and web coding for the last 8 years for a wide variety of clients, I have come across a wide variety of clientele who have the assumption that to create a website, one must have a degree in design or programming and far more experience than they have or hope to possess. Quite the opposite is actually true. One can learn to create a web site in a short amount of time. The process can not only be fun, but much easier than you think. Indeed, anyone can master the basics quite rapidly.
