Complaining Complainers

Here's an example of why you cannot get caught up in analysis paralysis or perfection purgatory.

Last week I launched a FREE article submission piece of software. You would think: who is going to complain about free?

Here's a direct quote I received on my feedback handler:

The open source support wording makes me want to pay someone for their product and have them support it…like a professional company. Free sucks ! Capitalism rules ! Sell it, support it.

If I would have sold the product, I would have received complaints about me modifying an open source tool and selling it…

As it was, I received the following:

I consider it a dirty trick to offer a supposedly great software for "free", then after a body accepts to tell them they probably won't be able to use it without instructions … that you'll provide at a price.

You can never please everybody. As the quotes above so aptly demonstrate. So don't try!

Make a product, service, what have you. Set it free in the wild and get feedback. If it's constructive, use it. If not, don't.

You just cannot spend the time worrying about someone saying something bad about your product, because no matter how great it is and close to perfect it is, someone will.  That's why we call them complainers…

Wow… I guess you can look a gift horse in the mouth. Can't wait to tell my Grandfather.

I for one really appreciate that you released the product for free. You have my thanks!

Steven,

This sounds like some kinda bad joke!

Or a bad dream! Maybe the same person with a really severe personality disorder?

I'm just finishing up the process and it looks REALLY smooth.

I just appreciate your abundance in giving away the info for free… then turning this rather strange experience into a helpful lesson for the rest of us.

Great job!

James Lee
